Veterans Workshops and Events
The Counseling Center, H.U.M.V and The Career Center, in alliance with the UW Veterans Center, are proud to sponsor a series of workshops and events during Winter and Spring Quarter 2012, aimed specifically at supporting our student veterans as they navigate the University, and the transition to the working world. We are honored to support your future.
Dependable Strengths Seeking advice on how to translate your military experience to civilian employment? Interested in exploring how to enhance your current employment situation, or how to get started on identifying next steps after college or in your next job? The Career Center's Dependable Strengths Workshop is an excellent resource for veterans in any stage of career development or transition. Participants will explore "good experiences" for patterns of strengths; create a report that reflects strengths; use the report to make contacts and improve interviews; practice becoming a "Job Magnet;” learn to negotiate for a promotion or pay increase; and work with a support team. You’ll also receive help with how to translate your military experience into civilian employment, and how to best describe your military experience to potential employers. Register now for this free workshop; space is limited.
